DETROIT, MI--Detroit, Michigan is the worst city in the country for veterans to live.

Over 19.2 million veterans living in the U.S., according to the Veterans Association, often face a range challenges when re-entering civilian life.

Wallethub Financial Writer, Adam McCann reports, ā€œDespite Uncle Samā€™s promises to provide health care as well as housing, employment and educational assistance upon their return from service, some cannot secure healthcare, jobs or shelter.ā€

WalletHub compared the 100 largest U.S. cities, looking at things like livability, affordability and veteran-friendliness to find the best and worst places for the nation's more-than-19-million veterans to lay down roots.

Other cities in the bottom five are Newark, New Jersey; Jersey City, New Jersey; Memphis, Tennessee; and Indianapolis, Indiana.

Tampa, Florida is ranked as the best city in the nation for veterans.
