NEW YORK, NY — Monica Lewinsky and HBO Max are joining forces to put together a documentary on cyber bullying and public shaming.
Lewinsky, who is a long-time opponent of cyber bullying, will be the producer of the documentary titled "Fifteen Minutes of Shame."
She’s partnered with “Catfish” co-host and producer Max Joseph to detail stories of people around the globe who have been publicly shamed and looking into how bystanders, the media, politicians and medical experts acted in the situation.
Lewinsky herself will make an appearance in the project, detailing her public ordeal following an affair with then-President Bill Clinton.
She has in the past few years emerged as a an anti-bullying activist, recently recruited by Ryan Murphy to produce and star in the upcoming season of “American Crime Story” which deals with the White House drama.
“Monica Lewinsky is an anti-bullying activist with unparalleled authority, making her the perfect partner for this project,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max. “And Max’s strong advocacy for social justice and distinctive storytelling make him particularly well-suited to explore this complex modern phenomenon.”
Lewinsky spoke in a 2015 TED Talk titled “The Price of Shame” about the backlash she received from her affair with President Bill Clinton, and has led anti-bullying campaigns including "Defy The Name" and "In Real Life."
