JBER Reaches Settlement With EPA Over Hazardous Waste Handling

President Trump's Budget Calls For Major Cuts To EPA

Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson will pay nearly $80,000 dollars in penalties over its handling of hazardous waste.

It's part of a settlement agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency.Officials say between 2016 and 2018, JBER personnel failed to properly inspect and label two hazardous waste streams.

The EPA says they also did not conduct annual training. JBER says it's corrected the issues and will ensure the violations won't happen again.
