The Trump Administration is rolling back Obama-era efficiency standards regarding light bulbs.

The rule removes requirements for recessed lighting, chandeliers and other shapes of bulbs besides the standard pear-shape.

Energy experts say the regulation will eliminate standards for half of the light bulbs currently on the market and could cost the average household more than 100-dollars a year.

The Department of Energy argues that rolling back the regulation will have little impact and will give consumers more options. Analysts say the rule could increase U.S. electricity use by 80-billion kilowatt hours over the course of a year.
