The Defense Health Agency has a new funding opportunity available that aims to improve the Pentagon system that provides health care to military personnel and their dependents.

DHA’s Research and Development Directorate’s competitively-funded health services research grant opportunity is intended for researchers whose work would help improve the quality and other outcomes in the Military Health System, according to an announcement from the agency.

Both intramural and extramural research organizations can apply for the funding opportunity.

“The Department of Defense, through the MHS, is committed to providing better quality health care more effectively and efficiently while controlling health-related costs, according to the announcement. “Reaching this goal requires research capabilities that extend beyond general analytics and clinical studies.

Dr. Richard Stoltz, who leads the effort for this grant announcement, said the agency is looking to build a robust research program with two key components in mind.

“DHA seeks to build a rigorous health services research program through collaboration and innovation,” he said in a statement.
