DISA Plan Homes in on ‘Ever-changing’ Cyberspace

The agency in charge of providing IT support to the Defense Department has unveiled its path forward inblueprintfrom 2019 to 2022. 

Released July 10, Defense Information Systems Agency’frameworkfocuses on three goals: operate and defend; adopt, buy and create solutions; and enable people and reform the agency.

The document aims to inform planning priorities, resource allocation, and assessment criteria, DISA said.  

“This four-year plan focuses on our future within the Department of Defense (DOD) and the ever-changing cyberspace environment,” Navy Vice Adm. Nancy Norton, DISA director and commander of the co-located Joint Force Headquarters – DOD Information Network, said in the introductory message. “It focuses on developing and reinforcing trusted partnerships to connect and protect the warfighter in cyberspace while contributing to the lethality of our joint fighting force.”

The plan also details a technology roadmap that describes how DISA will meet the goals and objectives in the strategic plan. It explores technologies that improve the architecture for the Pentagon that transforms data into actionable information and is resilient to cyber threats. 

“Our strategic plan aligns with national and DOD strategies aimed at improving the national defense posture,” said Army Maj. Lisa Kirby in a statement. “To ensure it remains current, the agency will review and update the document at the beginning of each fiscal year.”
