DLA's Revised Strategic Plan Stresses Efficiency, Innovation

The Pentagon’s combat logistics support agency has updated its strategic plan to be more relevant, putting efficiency and innovation front and center.

Major changes to the Defense Logistics Agency’s framework include three objectives under the Warfighter Support line of effort and one under Always Accountable. The plan now also has two new categories: Cross-Cutting Efforts and Critical Capabilities.

Warfighter First now has goals related to the space enterprise, support to Pentagon reform efforts, and demand projections. The new objective under Always Accountable is slashing rates and providing greater transparency to military and Whole of Government partners. It also better aligns DLA financial procurement and operations processes.

The new focus on Cross-Cutting Efforts has three objectives: making auditability every employee’s responsibility, gaining efficiencies and maximizing savings through DOD reforms, and bolstering operational resiliency. Critical Capabilities includes People and Culture objectives as well as Enterprise Enablers, which emphasizes innovation, technology, data management and cybersecurity.
